2/3 c  Shortening                          3    Sqs  unsweetened chocolate,
   2/3 c  Sugar                                    -melted
     1 ts Soda                                2    Eggs
     1 ts Salt                              1/2 c  Flour
     1 ts Vanilla                           3/4 c  Sour milk
   2/3 c  Molasses                       
 Cream shortening.  Add sugar gradually.  Add soda, salt, and vanilla.
 Mix in molasses and melted chocolate.  Beat in eggs. Blend in flour
 alternately with sour milk.  Pour into 2 well greased and floured 8
 inch layer cake pans.
Bake at 375 degrees for 24 minutes. Cool. Ice, if desired.
