1 c  Sugar                               1 c  Buttermilk
   1/2 c  Margarine; softened                 1 c  Almonds; chopped
     2    Eggs                               10 oz Maraschino cherries;
     2 c  Flour                                    -drained and chopped
     1 ts Baking soda                         1 ts Almond extract
   1/2 ts Salt                           
 Preheat oven to 350.  In a large bowl, cream sugar, margarine, and
 eggs until light and fluffy.  In a separate bowl, sift together
 flour, baking soda and salt.  Blend into creamed mixture with
 buttermilk. Stir in almonds, cherries and almond extract.  Pour
 batter into greased 9″ loaf pan.  Bake 55 to 60 minutes.  Remove from
 pan and cool on a wire rack.
